DTE-Flow&Flex
My own method – Down-to-Earth or DTE-Flow&Flex – is a combination of massage and bodywork. It is primarily based on well-known and highly effective classic deep-tissue techniques, supplemented by insights and techniques from Myofascial Release, Alchemy of Touch™, Yin Yoga, Structural Integration, mindfulness, and more.
-
- DTE-Flow is characterized by undulating movements at varying tempos. In doing so, I 'listen' to the natural rhythm of your body. This is a deep, fluid experience that is best felt firsthand to be truly understood.
-
- DTE-Flex combines the fluid elements of 'Flow' with slow, deep stretches and fascia training. The goal is to improve muscle function and restore the structural flexibility of your connective tissue.
The importance of healthy fascia (connective tissue)
Within bodywork, there is a growing focus on fascia. This network of connective tissue is incredibly strong. It supports your muscles, organs, and bones, ensuring they can glide smoothly past one another. Ideally, fascia is flexible and elastic. However, due to poor posture, a lack of movement variety, or prolonged stress, fascia can become bound and restricted. It grows thicker, drier, and stiffer. This eventually leads to tension, and pain. In many cases, the 'muscle pain' you feel is actually fascia that has lost its suppleness. With DTE Flow & Flex, I aim to restore and stimulate this fluidity.
Fascia Bodywork
Re-move
For those seeking or needing more specific and structural in-depth treatment, I offer a more rigorous bodywork that combines insights and techniques from Structural Integration, Myofascial Release, and what I call Body-Mindfulness (in short: greater awareness of the body-mind).
A gentler approach with a deeper effect
While traditional Structural Integration - or 'Rolfing' by Ida Rolf (also related to Tom Myers' Anatomy Trains™) can sometimes feel very intense or painful, I consciously choose a gentler, more 'listening' approach. With long, calm movements, deep stretches, and targeted training, I help your fascia relax on a profound level. Just like Myofascial Release and yoga therapy, Re-move focuses on relieving chronic pain and releasing stubborn movement restrictions. It is a method that I am continuously developing.
Somatic Awareness:
Listening to your Body
Your body stores experiences, stress, and emotions. Often, we only notice this when issues arise, such as a stiff neck or chronic fatigue. Through somatic awareness, my treatment invites you to not just think about your body, but to truly feel what your body is saying.
By shifting your attention from your head to your physical sensations, you learn to recognize and understand your body's subtle signals once again. This not only increases your body awareness during the session but also helps you in daily life to recognize your boundaries sooner and find deep rest.
In my practice, I am inspired by various mind-body methods and theories that I have personally tasted, tried, and practiced over the years:
-
Fight/Flight/Freeze & Polyvagal theory
-
The work of Gabor Maté
-
Somatic (Trauma) Therapy & Hakomi
-
Yin Yoga & Yoga Massage
-
EFT Tapping, Rhythm and Voicing
-
Earthing & walking meditation
-
Breathwork (including pranayama)
In mijn praktijk wordt ik geinspireerd door verschillende mind-body methoden en theorieen die ik in de loop der jaren zelf heb geproefd, geprobeerd en geoefend:
- Fight/Flight/Freeze & Polyvagal theory
- Het werk van Gabor Mate
- Somatic (Trauma) Therapy & Hakomi
- Yin Yoga & Yoga Massage
- EFT Tapping, Rhythm and Voicing
- Earthing & walking meditation
- Breathwork (o.a. pranayama)
Conscious Breathing
Not a trend, but an anchor
I do not offer intensive breathwork in my practice – something that is quite trendy right now, and rightly so! However, I do regularly and consciously integrate various breathing techniques and sometimes meditation into my massage and bodywork sessions. Your breath is the most direct link between your head and your body, as well as with the parasympathetic nervous system. By breathing consciously and with attention during the treatment, I help you sink deeper into your body, release tension more quickly, and maximize the benefits of the bodywork.
